Advisory Program

An important part of any Lasallian school is our value of Inclusive Community.  The Advisory Program at De La Salle aims to give students and faculty an opportunity to cultivate those connections on a weekly basis.  Every student is assigned an advisory group with same-age peers and two advisors; one faculty member and one staff member. The goals of the Advisory meetings are to

  • Build a sense of community and belonging among all students
  • Allow students and families to feel known through mentor relationships with teachers and staff
  • Provide opportunities for socio-emotional learning, academic goal-setting and Lasallian formation
  • Raise student voices
  • Provide a space and time to have small group discussions about issues relevant to students’ lives
  • Offer mentoring opportunities for 11th/12th grade students with younger students

Highlights from the 2019–2020 Advisory Meetings:

  • Downtime for games and a space for students to socialize with each other
  • Clay skull painting to celebrate Día de Los Muertos
  • School-wide Christmas party with games like Lotería, Santa Limbo, Christmas card making, and cookies
  • Door decorating and conversations about influential African Americans for Black History Month
  • Knight Nation:  a schoolwide assembly to shout out peers, teachers, and staff and celebrate positive moments in our community
