We Need Your Business to Hire Our Students

Read the letter from Jesuit High School President, Thomas D. Arndorfer and Principal, Paul J. Hogan, in support of our Corporate Work Study Program and their ask to consider hiring De La Salle North Catholic students.

Dear Members of the Jesuit High School Community,

Jesuit High is blessed to be part of the Portland Archdiocese's network of transformative Catholic educational institutions. We feel a special kinship with Portland's Catholic parochial and high schools, Jesuit-sponsored works like St. Andrew Nativity School and St. Ignatius Parish, and the University of Portland. Each plays a vital role in providing exceptional Catholic education to children in our community.

Today, we are writing to ask for your support of the students at De La Salle North Catholic High School. Why? We would not be true to the Jesuit mission or our Catholic faith unless we showed a special concern for this extraordinary school.

DLSNC provides a Catholic, college-preparatory education to under-served students in the most diverse private high school in Oregon. Over 95% of DLSNC graduates are accepted to college.

De La Salle North Catholic accepts only students who could not otherwise afford a college-prep, faith-based education (the average DLSNC family of four earns $35,000 per year). No student is turned away because of an inability to pay the modest tuition of $2,995 per year. Nearly 80% of DLSNC families pay $120 per year.

What makes DLSNC unique is its work-study educational model, which was pioneered by the Jesuits of the Chicago Province in 1996. DLSNC students attend school four days a week and work one day a week in a job-share in order to fund their tuition.

DLSNC is urgently looking for more businesses in the Portland community to employ their students. If your business offers entry-level employment and you are seeking to make a tangible, life-changing difference in our community, please consider hiring De La Salle's bright, motivated students.

For more information, please contact DLSNC President Tim Hennessy, a proud alum of the Jesuit class of 1974, at thennessy@dlsnc.org or 503-285-9385, ext. 101.

As we pursue our shared mission of building the Kingdom of God in the Portland Archdiocese and in our broader communities, we thank you for considering partnering with De La Salle North Catholic.

Sincerely,

Thomas D. Arndorfer, President
