Here’s what some recent grads think:

grads

“When I first came to DLSNC, I was very nervous, not sure that I would fit in, but to be honest, you don't have to fit into any box here at DLSNC. We are all unique in different ways, but the community aspect of this school is what brings us closer together.”

-Achaia G. '26

"DLSNC spotlights hope through the opportunities given to its students. When we, the students, go to work and face the outside world, or when a teacher gives us challenging obstacles in the classroom, it's because the school knows we can handle it, as they have given us the tools to do it. We have hope for our futures because it's an unspoken standard to live up to here.”

-Marie M. '26

"I love how much this school has done for my future. The work I have done here has got me ready for the next step in life."

-Ben F. '24

"The coolest part of my CWS job is the connections I’ve made with people. When I get out in the real world, I’m sure my supervisors from OnPoint will help me out if they can."

-Jaylen H. '25

"Our school provides a space for students to dream big and expand outside the stereotypes that society puts upon them."

-Rosvin R. ‘24

“I love the fact that the teachers and staff actually care and want the best for every student. DLS staff see greatness in everyone and are such a big help in each of our journeys.”

-Da'Nasia S. ‘24

“Being a smaller school, DLSNC makes it a lot easier for students to feel welcome and be surrounded by people they are comfortable with. That, along with the teachers knowing you personally and caring about you, truly highlights how one may see DLSNC as a spotlight for hope."

And here’s what a few parents have to say about DLSNC:

“De La Salle is changing the landscape of Portland on so many different levels. You talk about diversity, you talk about equity, you talk about first generation college graduates getting to and getting through college. I can’t think of another school that’s hitting all of those points.”

-Rashida S. ‘05, Class of 2029 parent

“Everyone from the office staff, teachers, counselors, coaches, van drivers, and executive leaders at DLSNC partnered with my son to set him up for success. He was pushed to get out of his comfort zone when they knew he could be better and also supported through things that were challenging.”

-Kristin W., Class of 2024 parent

“We are proud parents of a 15-year-old who has been given the opportunity to work and learn at one of Portland’s law firms! Thank you DLSNC and to their partners for committing to our youth’s future. Our child is dreaming bigger than ever and showing more confidence to achieve her dreams.”

-Annabelle & Seemab H., Class of 2027 & 2029 parents

“The teachers teach with love, they lead with that, they instill that in their students, and I feel that the students want to do better because they know their teachers are backing them. The students here feel seen. They know their ideas are being heard. That’s the ultimate thing for a teenager.”

-Sharneta T., Class of 2023 parent

"Having this kind of school in Portland for families that might not be able to afford other schools is a big deal."

-Britanny R. '06, Class of 2026 & 2029 parent

"One of the most special things about DLSNC is the cultural representation on campus and CWS. Not being the only BIPOC in a classroom or at a job is rare in this state, and I value this not being the case at DLSNC. Culturally speaking, to see yourself in your leaders–people who look like you or that you relate to ethnically–can be life-changing."

-Ginean M., Class of 2022 parent
